LITHIUM BATTERIES
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) - Cylindrical Cells
LiFePO4 batteries are a superior alternative to standard lithium-ion options, offering a longer lifespan and requiring minimal maintenance. They are also more environmentally friendly and have an excellent safety profile, being highly resistant to overheating or combustion, even in cases of overcharging.
Cylindrical cells are a cost-effective choice, particularly in the electric vehicle market, thanks to their roots in consumer electronics. Their round design efficiently distributes internal pressure from chemical reactions across the cell’s circumference, enhancing durability under high-pressure conditions. Additionally, this shape simplifies thermal management, enabling coolants to flow smoothly around the cells in battery packs for efficient heat dissipation.

Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) - Prismatic Cells
Prismatic cells are available in two main configurations: wound and flat plate. Wound cells are made by layering materials around a central core, similar to cylindrical cells, while flat plate cells consist of stacked layers pressed or folded together. The rectangular shape of prismatic cells allows optimal space utilization in battery packs, making them an excellent choice for automotive applications requiring high-capacity storage.

Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) - Pouch Cells
Pouch cells are a unique type of prismatic cell that utilize flexible aluminum polymer packaging instead of rigid metal casings. The internal layers are either stacked or folded, vacuum-sealed, and encased within the pouch. Most pouch cells use a gel electrolyte, which, although higher in resistance, eliminates the spill risks associated with liquid electrolytes. This design ensures a compact and lightweight solution for high-performance applications.
